One of the hardest hurdles at the moment is figuring out how to avoid weight gain when working from home. Most of us are holed up indoors which can make sticking to a good nutrition program extra difficult. With a little thought and some extra planning, you can avoid weight gain when working from home.

ONE: MAKE A SCHEDULE ✔
Most of us are creatures of habit — we get used to a certain routine and usually thrive within that structure. That is why the most important first move to prevent weight gain when working at home is to set up and maintain a daily schedule. Just as done in the workplace, set a schedule for work, meals, and breaks. Don’t allow your day to just blend. And schedule a workout while you’re planning your day.
TWO: CREATE SEPARATE ZONES ✔
Designate different spaces for different tasks. Food should stay in the kitchen; work in the dining room or office, and you can rest in your bedroom. Just like in your actual workplace, keep your activities separate.
THREE: PACK YOUR LUNCH ✔
Instead of just raiding your fridge, pack yourself a healthy lunch just like you would if you were still working outside of the house. This way when your tummy is growling you’ll be all set. My Rainbow Vegan Lunch Bowl is an easy and tasty option!
FOUR: TAKE BREAKS ✔
Just because you’re sheltered in place does not mean you need to be glued to your chair all day. It’s important to schedule breaks that allow you to move your body. Go for a short walk, put on some music and dance around, or workout to one of my videos. Movement is a great mood elevator and it’s so important to good health. This first photo below is from my post Jump Start You Fitness with a Ball and a Band. And the second photo is from one of my favorite workouts 5 Simple Moves That Will Improve our Inner Thighs.
FIVE: WORK REGULAR HOURS ✔
The tendency when working out home is to get started once you roll out of bed and have your coffee. Bad idea! As you would when going to your workplace, follow your normal morning routine. Take a shower, get into work clothes (it’s fine to stay casual, but it’s not a good idea to stay in your pajamas all day) brush your teeth and put on your face. Believe me, you will feel much better!
