Happy Friday ladies! I’m so excited for our first 2021 post of the Ageless Style Series. We are continuing with our fantastic and diverse group of bloggers all styling a similar seasonal trend in a variety of ways. Our winter theme is SWEATSHIRTS!
“I saw a woman with a sweatshirt that said Guess on it. Thyroid problem?” ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger
I love sweatshirts. They are, and have always been, a staple in my wardrobe. A grey heather crew neck and a grey heather zip up hoodie are my signature fashion statement. What I love best about sweatshirts is that they are just so comfortable! With the increased popularity of leisure ware, I don’t think anything can replace the sweatshirt. My favorite sweatshirts are those I and my children have collected over the years from summer college programs, college tours and actually attending schools. I also love their old high school and sports team sweatshirts. I just love them all! I have lots of fancy fashiony sweatshirts but I decided to highlight these from my son’s alma mater. Let’s see how this group is styling.
I’m starting with me, the oldest of the bunch 🙂
60’s Blogger: Phyllis of FOLLOWPHYLLIS
IG: followphyllis
Bio: Hi Ladies! I’m Phyllis, the woman behind followPhyllis.com, a website dedicated to empowering women over 60 to be their best selves. I blog primarily about fitness, nutrition, and motivation but I also love to bring my passion for fashion and beauty to my followers as well. Most women in my age group feel forgotten and I like to remind them of their vibrancy and vitality.
Styling Notes: Comfy casual has become my mantra over the last year and I think this photo says it all. This sweatshirt, from my son’s graduating year, celebrates the 150th anniversary of Cornell University, which was founded in 1865. It’s chubby and warm and just what you want a sweatshirt to be. The best part is it has a kangaroo pocket, a must for anything I wear nowadays. I simply paired it with my favorite leggings and comfy kicks.
Styling Tip: I have a huge collection of comfy, casual sweatshirts, but I also own many beautiful dressy ones. I wear most of them casually but also use them as a cardigan when I get dressed up. Don’t be afraid to mix up your clothing pieces for new looks.
50’s Blogger: Betsy of Natty Gal
IG: nattygaldotcom
Bio: Hello, friend! I’m Betsy, the Cleveland blogger behind Natty Gal, wife to Gavin, and fur-mom to Dolce, our 1.5-year-old Bichon-Frise. Natty Gal shares inspiration for creating a simple, stylish, and satisfying life via lifestyle, fashion, and travel posts. I’m a dedicated supporter of women that are on their journey to becoming their best selves and living their best lives. I’d love to invite you to check out my blog and become a part of my “women supporting women” family!
Styling Notes: My day-in, day-out style tends to be pretty casual and sporty so when I heard that sweatshirts were the theme for this post I felt excited. Friends, sweatshirts don’t have to be basic or frumpy. Just look at the gorgeous floral embroidery on this hoodie from Maeve (an Anthropologie store brand)! And that’s only one of the details that take this garment from basic to beautiful. Other features to note are the balloon sleeves, the side-split detail on the hem, and the absence of an annoying string tie on the hoodie. All serve to give this casual piece a much sleeker and more finished look.
I paired this pretty sweatshirt with some wardrobe basics: a white tee, cropped kick-flare denim, white Stan Smith sneakers, and my pretty but practical Tory Burch Perry Bombé cross-body bag. It’s a comfortable and casual outfit that still shows a bit of style and hints at my nature-loving personality. You can shop this look (and more) by downloading the LiketoKnowit app and following me at Natty Gal.
40’s Blogger: Lesa of That Misfit Mama Bear Life With Prissy Missy
IG: prissymissydoll
Bio: For those new to my blog, I’m Lesa, better known as Prissy Missy. I am the misfit, quirky fashion-obsessed enby from That Misfit Mama Bear Life With Prissy Missy. When I am not empowering or encouraging others with fashion and flair, I can be found with copious amounts of coffee while helping others with their homeschool journey. I may be a bit eccentric, but hey, that’s what makes life interesting, right?
Styling Notes: Those who know me know I am no fan of cold weather. To compensate, I have a rather large collection of warm weather wear like my enormous cardigan collection and my ever-growing sweatshirt pile!
I love the over-sized sweatshirt trend and because I didn’t know what size I would end up postpartum, I am glad that big sweatshirts are trendy because I may have bought all my new ones for winter a little too big!
For me, I like to pair mine with a tank top underneath and then a cute pair of leggings! However, every once in a while, when I am really cold, I go for a flannel underneath with the collar poking out!
The thing I love about sweatshirts is that they are always in style and always will be in style. Whether you go for a plain one, patterned one, or a graphic one, they are a great way to express who you are!
30’s Blogger: Stacy of Styled by Stacy
IG: Styled_by_Stacy
Bio: Hi Friends! My name is Anastasia (Stacy) and I’m the fashion guru behind Styled by Stacy. I’m a lover of everything about the fashion industry from it’s unique designs and art to its ever changing atmosphere. I started my blog because I wanted to share my love of fashion, creativity, and my style with people everywhere. Styled by Stacy offers trend styling, my fashion favorites, and a love for my city, The CLE!
Styling Notes: Ever since covid lockdown there has been a wardrobe piece that has been trending. The cozy crew sweatshirt. While stuck inside we’ve seen it paired with joggers that match or biker shorts. For today’s Ageless Style post I wanted to get out of sweatpants and elevate the crew sweatshirt for actually leaving the house.
Styling Tip: An easy way to elevate your crew sweatshirt is by adding jewelry. I kept it simple and layered a few of my favorite necklaces. You can also cuff your sleeves and add your favorite bracelet stacks and earrings. I also added a great pair of heeled booties and a long wool coat because we live in Cleveland and layering is a must! For more trend styling, fashion favorites, and #mommyhood, come say Hello! On my blog or social media. I love meeting new fashionista’s everyday!

As an explorative and fun-loving millennial I am still finding my own path in this world. CinCityChic is my escape and journey that I enjoy sharing with others!
Styling Notes: Sweater weather is my favorite time of year. I love a good cozy sweater that will keep me warm and stylish. This sweater is one of my favorites because of the detail. The detailed embroidery catches the eye and is flattering to the waist.
I styled this look with a pair of army green pants. The color of the sweater is neutral which pairs well with the army pattern. I like this look because it is simple with a bit of flair.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Trends come and go but one thing always remains constant: women of all ages want to look current and they want to look good! Any style can be tailored to a woman’s age and body shape so it’s important to think outside of the box! Remember to have fun!
