Clutches have always been a handbag staple but they have made a major resurgence over the last year. For women over fifty they add a current, trendy look and are great when going out because of their compact size. I especially like to wear them during the summer when I don’t want the added weight of a regular bag. Here are my four favorite cool clutches for hot summer days. I own all of these bags; the oldest is about five years old and the newest was purchased recently. I don’t spend much on them and love to pair these clutches with statement bracelets to put emphasis on the accessories.

Some might call me over the hill, others may refer to me as middle aged, but I don’t care about labels so commonly used to refer to women over fifty. Unfortunately along with these labels comes a long list of how we should act, dress, etc. and I refuse to let others define me. I prefer to define myself with words like fierce and fearless and when it comes to my outside appearance, flirty is my favorite adjective. Flirty at 65?
